Well, as most of you know, tomorrow is Hollywood's night of nights - the biggest event of the year in the film world is The Oscars. This years, Oscar delcares "You've Never Seen Oscar Like This" so I'm hoping for a fantastic ceremony, but I have low expectations judging from what I've heard about the ceremony. But as always, I do look forward to Oscar Night and here are my final oscar winner predictions!
BEST PICTURE: The Hurt Locker
BEST DIRECTOR: Kathryn Bigelow, The Hurt Locker
BEST ACTOR: Jeff Bridges, Crazy Heart
BEST ACTRESS: Gabourey Sidibe, Precious
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Christoph Waltz, Inglorious Basterds
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Mo'Nique, Precious
BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY: The Hurt Locker
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY: Precious
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Avatar
BEST ART DIRECTION: Avatar
BEST COSTUME DESIGN: The Young Victoria
BEST MAKE UP: Star Trek
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE: Up
BEST ORIGINAL SONG: "The Weary Kind" from Crazy Heart
BEST FILM EDITING: The Hurt Locker

BEST ANIMATED SHORT: Wallace and Grommit in A Matter of Loaf and Death
BEST LIVE ACTION SHORT: The Door
BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM: The Secret of Her Eyes

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Sidibe for an upset in Best Actress. I think her Independent Spirit Award win and recent surge of buzz could pull her just that extra mile. They also seem to like the film.
Next up: Oscar Night! I will post the winners ASAP and share my thoughts on the ceremony the day after and tell you what I loved and hated. Also coming, Alice in Wonderland & Shutter Island reviews and some previews of my photography!
Happy Reading!
